And now what you really came to see:

NAT’S RANKING OF THE SUCCESSION SEASON FINALES

SPOILERS AHEAD

4th Place: Season 3

“All the Bells Say”

Hear me out. None of Succession’s finales are bad, but this one just didn’t hit like the rest.

I did gasp at Tom’s betrayal. And I cheered his sudden growing of a backbone after eating three seasons of BS from Shiv. Kendall confessing his role in the server’s death was also cathartic.

But this finale gets last place for one too many foiled takeovers. The siblings banding together seemed inevitable. We’ve ridden the takeover/no takeover, happy Kendall/sad Kendall roller coaster a little too long.

3rd Place: Season 2

“This is Not for Tears”

This was one of my favorites (they’re all my favorite, but I had to be a killer). It was satisfying to see Kendall flip the table on Logan after playing the beat-down robot henchman all season long. Loved Logan's enigmatic little smile watching the take-down too. The parallel between this press conference and Kendall’s rock bottom (so far) press conference at the start of the season is just 🤌 chef’s kiss.

As good as this finale was, it didn’t pack the same devastating gut punches as these last two.

2nd Place: Season 1

“Nobody Is Ever Missing”

I remember watching the last five minutes of this episode in a COVID-addled blanket cocoon and thinking, “Oh wait, this show is GOOD good.”

I felt totally sick (in a non-COVID way) in the moments after the car wreck when Kendall realizes that the server is done for. Watching our #1 boy get cut down from the high of overpowering Logan to becoming guilty of manslaughter is just brutal. 11/10.

This episode also has bonus points for the scene where Tom attacks Greg on his morning jog.

1st Place: Season 4

“With Open Eyes”

The series finale had the most riding on it and still blew it out of the water.

Where to start. The eldest boy meltdown. The Tom-Shiv hand-hover. The meal fit for a king. The UNHINGED stitch-tearing Kendall-Roman power hug. My emotions watching that scene deserve their own ranking. It’s the ultimate drop on the happy Kendall/sad Kendall roller coaster. Pretty miserable for the siblings (except for Roman? And Connor, bless his heart, peace to my Conheads) but satisfying nonetheless.

There you have it. THE definitive finale ranking. Let me know if you want to fight or hear my ranking for the seasons–it’s completely different!
